SEASHORE STRIDER CHALLENGE OF 2023

JOIN THE STRIDERS ON A FITNESS JOURNEY FOR A CAUSE

PLEASE READ

after reviewing payment options, it would will be much better financially for everyone if they’re doing the program or the challenge to use RunSignup rather than stamps which are $.60 apiece. If you do the math that’s $7.20 not including the envelope and the check and the hassle to mail it

A few people registered today and paid for the whole year at 120.00 (10.00 x 12mo) and it was less than five dollars ($4.80) on RunSignup

Even if you go to the end of the month and go onto Run Signup to pay your 10, it will still be cheaper for you to do it online at .40 cents.

For those that do not have Internet or are not online or for the gentleman who sent me a message in the past hour saying he lives in his RV/van and is traveling across the country in the next year and he’s going to do the challenge and either get to a Starbucks that has Internet or send a check in the mail.

So I just wanted to get this out to everyone that it is going to be financially cheaper for you just to use RunSignup either now paying for the whole year or if you’re not sure about your condition or you’re not sure that you’re going to keep going with it (one lady I talked to recently is coming off an injury. She just wants to give it a try for a month and see how she feels) whatever your case may be it’s gonna be financially cheaper to use RunSignup either now or at the end of each month.

THE GOAL: TO GET 100 RUNNERS, WALKERS, BIKERS, SWIMMERS, ROWERS TO SIGN UP FOR THE CHALLENGE IN THE MONTH OF JANUARY.   READY-SET-LET'S GO!

SEASHORE STRIDER CHALLENGE OF 2023

JANUARY 1, 2023 – DECEMBER 31, 2023

JOIN THE STRIDERS ON A FITNESS JOURNEY FOR A CAUSE

HERE IS HOW IT WORKS…

100 miles per month for 12 months…1,200 miles

A $1.00 entry fee to join or register.

I am going to put this event on runsignup to track you, have an email list & have a waiver signed.

The goal is 100 miles each month of the year by the following:

RUNNING, WALKING, BIKING, SWIMMING & INDOOR ROWING

Add up your miles with a goal of 100 by the last day of each month.

If you reach 100 miles…you go to event site on runsignup and make your $10 donation and move on to the next month…if you do not reach 100 miles- you still donate $10 but your penalty is you have to make an additional donation to our cause…we deposit it in the non-profit and at the end of the year we make a donation to the 4 charities that are named below.   Just think, my goal is 100 participants staying healthy each month which calculates to $12,000!

(IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PAY THE $120.00 DONATION UP FRONT YOU MAY AND IT IS CHEAPER FINANCIALLY TO USE RUNSIGNUP EITHER UPFRONT ($120.00 FOR THE YEAR OR $10 AT THE END OF EACH MONTH) AND JUST WORRY ABOUT MAKING ADDITIONAL DONATIONS "IF" YOU DO NOT REACH 100 MILES)

HUMANE ANIMAL PARTNERS  -  BEEBE FOUNDATION -  CAPE HENLOPEN FOOD BASKET -  YMCA of DE

Lastly, I think it is important to celebrate a good deed so we will take a small portion of the income collected and celebrate our accomplishments with a Holiday Gathering at the end of the year at a location to be determined.

In conclusion…I organized crazy challenges for the local runners during covid that were amazingly successful with hundreds taking part and we donated a lot of money that year.  This challenge will be easy for most runners, but for some like myself with sore knees & a sore back knowing I can’t run 1,200 miles in a year anymore (flashback to college-DSU 1989 my team ran 1,200 miles in 12 weeks, but those days are long gone).  With the addition of walking, biking and swimming- the challenge will be achievable for all ages from our 9 & U kids to our 80+ legends anywhere..  It will be a challenge for me, but I am going to give it a go, which I figure can not do anything but help me and others stay healthy throughout the year.
